Carbon Offsets

Green News : Meeting energy needs to the rural masses by providing improved cook stoves

What is carbon offsetting?

There is no difference of opinion among the world community with respect to drastic reduction in greenhouse gas emission to avoid dangerous consequence of climate change. Every individual besides the business community have to take upon them the responsibility to achieve greenhouse gas reduction targets and wherever the reduction is not possible to offset the emissions.

A carbon offset is a reduction in emissions of carbon dioxide or greenhouse gases made in order to compensate for or to offset an emission made elsewhere. Carbon offsets are measured in metric tons of carbon dioxide-equivalent. Individuals, companies / corporates can reduce emissions directly by, for example, reducing consumption of fossil fuels, electricity, improving energy efficiency etc., Where these options have been exhausted or are not cost-effective, an alternative for consumers is to voluntarily pay for an emission reduction elsewhere by purchasing carbon offsets to mitigate their own greenhouse gas emissions.

Reduce energy consumption for lighting, heating and cooling.
Reduce use of fossil fuel for transportation.
It all helps to reduce CO2 emissions.

How Does it Work?

The carbon offsets scheme works in the following way:

If business / commercial establishment wishes to become carbon neutral then, first the business must reduce their energy consumption by adopting energy efficiency or conservation methods and for the balance energy source where reduction is not possible the equivalent energy source can be procured from renewable energy or purchase carbon offsets generated by a renewable energy company.

If an Individual wishes to reduce his carbon foot print the same can be reduced by purchasing from Zenith Climate Basket of Reputed and Reliable Credits/Projects.

At Zenith Climate we help you (Business/Individual) choose from various sustainable Development projects and also make the entire process transparent and also verified by a third party.
